Dairy producers are now cheating – adding milk to the fatted cream and a gum like carrageenan, then selling it as real heavy cream or whipping cream.
Glen Frederich, founder of LC Foods explains…”We are helping our valued customers to be wise and educated about full cream sources…it translates into extra carbs from the added milk. So, the lowest carb cream is the best. <1 carb or 0 carbs has no added lactose sugar from the milk.”
Carrageenan gum is approved by the FDA . However, concerns about its safety remain. Some scientists believe Carrageenan gum can cause inflammation, digestive problems, such as bloating and irritable bowl syndrome, and even colon cancer is suggested.
